Our Resolutions

Happy New Year once again, everyone! Today's post will be something special. (It's going to be lengthy)

A short introduction on what is resolution based on my point of view. It is a time you sit down (at the end of the year, 2011) to form a list of things you want to achieve on the following year (2012). You can write it in your journal, your phone or wherever you wish (as long as you remember where you wrote it). 

I used to write my resolutions and never look back at it again until the end of the following year. What I have come to realise is that this method could be improved by constantly checking on it. It reminds me of my goals throughout the whole year. Subconsciously, I would actually take action based on what I want.

Making your own resolution is a fantastic way to give you a clearer aim of what you want to do in the year of 2012. It will help you to become more focused and motivated throughout your whole year. At the end of the year of 2012, you'll come to realise that you subconsciously completed some of your resolutions. 

Isn't that brilliant? Don't you feel great that you can achieve what you want?

1. To have enough rest every single day.  

This is something that has always been affecting me. When you have lack of sleep, you become less focused, you have more obvious eye bags (some of you are lucky!) and you become blur.

What happens next? You become forgetful AND you're not so progressive in your work/studies. 

So yes, sleeping early and having a good rest is a must for you and I. :) 

2. To be enthusiastic and successfully completing all of my task (in other words, banish procrastination).

When I have something important to do - I suddenly have this need to clean my tables, check my mail, am curious what is on my Facebook; basically everything to avoid my important something.


Then, this happens and finally that task is still not yet completed. And I would either do last minute work (have a panic attack and rush to finish it) or feel regret. 


This doesn't only happen once but multiple of times and it makes me become accustomed to it. And that's bad, real bad. I become guilty and have constant panic attacks. Worst of all is you start to believe that you're not good enough to complete it. You become less confident in what you used to do best.


The truth is that I could easily overcome this by doing my work earlier and not procrastinate!

3. To focus on all the positive aspects in any situation I face.

There is the time that you feel that the particular day is the worst day of your life, the world is going to end anytime soon and the bitter feeling in your heart that tells you suicide is a good solution.

No! Suicide is never a good solution. It is not even a solution. It's a death sentence. There is a point of time where I thought suicide might be the way to end my problems. I was very emotional and I just couldn't solve my problems that were amplified (due to procrastination). The time was ticking, my major exams were dawning and I wasn't ready for it, at all.


Then I thought again, suicide doesn't kill my problem. My problem still exist. It's just that I'm not present to SOLVE it. I'm thankful that I have my love ones to support me and they told me to just do my best. Besides, how would my loved ones feel if I were to depart from this world? I wouldn't be sad because I'm dead but they would be in agony. How would I "rest" in peace then?


My anxiety did not disappear right away. Even as I sat for my exams, my heart wavered slightly. I told myself, "I don't have time to think of how scared I'm, I gotta finish the papers cause time is ticking".


So don't push yourself around too much if you have depression. If you need someone to talk to, I'll try my best to help you out. :) Even better, speak to a psychologist about your problems. If you are low on cash, why not try your school's counselor? You could also head over to a local church (if you're a Christian) and just immerse yourself in prayers. Speak to your pastor if you do have problems. They might be able to help you.


I believe God is magnificent and he gave you the chance to live for a reason. You might not find a reason today, tomorrow, in months and years. But someday, you will go "eureka!" now I know why! So persevere and do your best, every single day. :)


See the best in every situation you face and you will be happy. Practice makes perfect!


4. To remind the people that I love that I cherish them.

Surprise them! Text them good morning, bake cupcakes for them, give them a spontaneous hug and most importantly smile and tell them you love them! 


Even I, myself am still going through the phase of trying to say "I love you" to my parents. I am still not accustomed to. If you're like me, not to fret. You still can do so much to tell them that you love them. Through your actions, that is. That is even better than just telling them "I love you" and not doing anything about it. 


I have come to realise that I take my family for granted sometimes. I feel that I care more for my friends' feelings compared to my own family. I guess the only reason why I treat my friends better is because I'm afraid if they can't accept me for who I am.


My family accepts me for who I am. So I thought, why not take care of their feelings even more than my friends? They are the ones that are going to stand by me for the rest of my life.


Life is limited. If today is not the day you tell them you love them, when is the time to? What if they are no longer here the next day, you never know (touch wood).


Okay, that's few of my resolutions of 2012. I hope that I didn't bore you out (kidding).
