Baking soda

Photobucket
CHRISTMAS is coming and you are busy buying gifts for your family and friends. You realise that you're out of acne cleanser and your budget is a little too tight to splurge.
What's this all about, you ask?

Some of you may have heard the wonders of baking soda for your health.

Benefits:
1. May cure acne
2. Whitens your teeth
3. Relieves heartburn
4. Softens your skin
5. Acts as a mechanical exfoliator

As my skin is easily immune to the products I use, I have to switch my cleansing regime every 1-2 weeks. After using baking soda for 2 weeks, I have noticed that it helps to keep my pimples at bay. The redness of my pimples reduces quickly in a matter of 1-3 days and disappears.

What I love the most is that it is cheap, effective and available anywhere.

Steps:
1. Wet your face and pat dry.
2. Scoop out a teaspoon of baking soda.
3. Add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of water to form a paste.
(Don't fret if your first try is a runny paste, practice makes perfect (: )
You will hear a fizzing sound when water reacts with baking soda.
4. Apply the paste on your face.
Be careful and make sure that you do not get the mixture in your eyes.
5. Exfoliate your face in a circular motion after the paste is applied.
6. Leave it on for a minute or more while you brush your teeth and shower.
Even better, have it as a mask and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
7. Wash it off and pat your face dry.
Continue with your usual skin regime.

* If you are unsure if you're allergic to baking soda, run a patch test by applying the paste on an area of skin near your hair line (next to your ears). If there's any allergies between 24 hours, please wash the area immediately and consult your physician.

* Side note:
You will feel a slight burning sensation on your pimples and face. It will sting even more if you have added too much baking soda. So just add a teaspoon. :)

Sulphur, a pimple spot-on treatment

Photobucket
I hope you guys miss me as much as I do!

To be frank, I stumbled upon this product by accident. I was browsing through my local drugstore and a green little box intrigued me. As a young child, I remembered my cousins having something similar to this applied all over their faces. It cleared up their acne tremendously. The key ingredient was sulfur

Sulfur:
  • Key ingredient of treating acne and pimples.
  • Present in many skin treatments for problematic skin.
  • It is proven that hot spring contains high amounts of sulfur which helps in giving you strong hair, nails and skin.
  • Known as "nature beauty mineral" as sulfur is needed for the production of collagen (type of protein to maintain skin elasticity).

A bigger container was available but I bought the smaller version because I was unsure if it was effective. What I love about this product is less than RM 8.  And if you were to convert it to USD, it did be like $3-4. Awesome isn't it? :)

And, it last you for quite along time. I've had mine for 2 months now. It comes with a thick paste and when applied, your face will have white marks (just apply it at night)

When first applied, you will feel a slight tingly sensation.  If you want to remove it, just get a piece of tissue and rub it off lightly.

Nixoderm has helped me clear up my pimples and cystic acne really well. As my skin tends to get "immune" to spot-on treatments, I have to switch it up a bit.

It doesn't only help acne but it is also suitable for blackheads, rashes, eczema and ringworm.

Here are the active ingredients:
6% Benzoic Acid, 2.5% Salicylic Acid and 4.6% Precipitated Sulphur

**For those who have sensitive skin, apply some petroleum jelly or base before applying this product.

*If you have thought about purchasing this product, please do read the instruction manual containing in the box. It is really important to know some safety precautions before you apply this on your skin (especially if you have sensitive skin).

*If you're unsure if your skin is sensitive, test it with a base and this sulfur near your jawline area. If there's any skin allergies between 24 hours, wash it off immediately.Depending on the severity of allergy, contact your local physician.

P.S - I made a mistake in having the wrong person's twitter account in my blog. Sorry if I have caused any confusion!
