Beauty tips and tricks & facial steamer

Photobucket
Ni hao! (Hello in Mandarin) Today's talk would be the Watson Facial Sauna. It's actually a face steamer. I bought this steamer about a year ago. If I do remember, I would steam my face with this for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the pores of my skin to open. Normally, I would allow the water to simmer and add in a few drops of Tea Tree Oil and a tiny bit of olive oil before placing the larger pink steamer thing on (I don't know what is it called). Also, the tea tree oil might sting your eyes a little so be careful with the steam.

The steaming will not only kill any future pimples but also nourishes your skin due to the moisturising properties of olive oil. It is best advice to only steam your face once a week. Remember to steam your face after you have cleansed your face. After 15 minutes, I would pat my face dry with a paper towel and take a pimple tool to extract the stubborn blackheads on my nose.

** Be warned, it will hurt a lot but please bare with it. I noticed that after extracting the blackheads from my nose, I will start to have runny nose and my eyes will tear a little. Personally, I found out that some of my blackheads are really stubborn and only after steaming would I be able to extract it completely. After removing the stubborn blackheads/whiteheads, do remember to apply some tea tree oil to kill any bacteria or wash the area you extracted with water.

If you would like to skip the blackheads extracting step, just pat your face dry and apply a clay mask. Clay mask is suitable for those who wants the impurities in your skin to be removed. If you do have extra time, you could also extract the blackheads and apply on your favourite clay mask.

Here is to simplify things:
1. Steam > Extract > Mask > Wash> Your usual skin routine (Tone, pimple cream, moisturise)
~or~
2. Steam > Mask > Wash  > Your usual skin routine (Tone, pimple cream, moisturise)

**Do remember not to extract any of your pimples because it might lead to scarring. Only blackheads and whiteheads. Do apply minimal pressure when you are removing your blackheads/whiteheads.

P.S - All the beauty tips listed on the above are based on my own personal experience. Do consult your dermatologist if you are hesitant to try it.

Body Lotion

Photobucket
Top of the morning to you, my fellow readers. It's been about 2 weeks now since I started to use the Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Dry Skin Relief (right). It's actually a lotion. I apply it every night after I shower to ensure the moisture is locked in. Also, it's advisable to put any skin care product straight after you shower and towel dry your body. This is because, products are more easily absorbed into your skin after a warm shower.

The consistency of this product somewhat thick and has quite a strong smell of tea tree oil. The smell will disappear soon enough because your nose will get use to any smell that you whiff for long. The product is visibly white and have to be rubbed a few times before the lotion sink into the skin. I bought it around the price of RM35-45. It's quite worth it because the product can last you for a couple of months.

Here's the list of ingredients:
Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Jice, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearic Acid, Melaleuca Aternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil, Xantham Gum. Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Lavandua Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Linalool, Limonene.

This lotion has really helped the dry areas on my arms and my elbows. I use to have dry and flaky skin around my upper arm due to consistent itchiness at that area. Although the dry spots didn't heal completely just yet, that area is noticeably smoother and less dry compared to before. Furthermore, my skin is prone to breakouts. But with this lotion, it has made some parts of my skin smoother and did not have any reaction to my skin. Yay!

Update 8/12/12: I am still using this body lotion. If I am not mistaken, it is like my 4th or 5th bottle.

Body Acne (Bacne)

Photobucket
Hi girls! It has been a while. :) Did you miss me? I know you did. ~Wink~ Anyways, who seriously likes having bacne? I never really knew how painful bacne was until I started getting them about 6 months ago. The pain!

In hopes in finding a product that will help my body acne, I stumbled upon this T3 Acne Body Wash. It is 200ML and it is in shower gel form. I cannot recall how much is the price of this body wash, roughly below RM25 for 200ML. There's another one that has a pump and is larger, but I did not purchase that. I have been using this product for about 6 months and finished the 2nd bottle so far. It helped me in clearing up my bacne and it leaves my body clean. However, I am always trying to find a new product as I want a product that has a lower content of chemical laden products.

And so, I switched my body wash to this Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Organic Soap. I purchased this at RM18 from the local pharmacy called Caring. I have used this product for about one and a half month already. I normally wet this with some water and lather it up using my loofah.

Ingredients:
Sodium Palmate, Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Glycerin, Aqua, Macadamia Seed Oil, Limonene.

According to their website, here's the list of the details on this soap:
  • Contains 97% Certified Organic Ingredients
  • Certified by the Organic Food Chain
  • Contains 100% pure Tea Tree Oil
  • Contains 100% naturally derived ingredients
  • Free from polysorbates, petrochemicals, propylene glycol, laurly sulphates, synthetic parabens, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours, synthetic preservatives and animal derived ingredients

I really like that total ingredients in this soap is just 6. Although this soap cost around the same as the T3 Acne Body Wash, I prefer this because it last longer and it controls the reoccurring itchiness of my skin. I am not really sure but I think I have slight eczema. I do get sudden itchiness once in a while. After showering, finish off with your favourite body lotion. :)

Update 8/12/12: I am no longer using this as I am trying other new body washes. Stay tune for future reviews. :)
